Somewhere in space in time, two beings looked down at a world that had once been a playground for them.

Q looked to her counterpart, a Prophet from one specific wormhole. "Wait, hold up. This...this is all wrong."

"What do you mean it's wrong? This is how it was destined to go based on the choices they have made." The Prophet said.

"No, no, I am rewriting this tale. This is all wrong. They are all over the place and lost with no sense of direction." Q stated as she began to twirl her finger over what could be called an observation table based on its design and monkey brain people's grasp of concepts.

The Prophet set her hand on Q's arm. "Leave them intact the way they are. Do not interfere with the plan."

Q smiled and looked down at the table, "All I am doing is clearing the field a little. Perhaps even giving them a slight....advantage over what's to come."

And with the final twirl of her finger, the weather around the planet began to dissipate. The energy collected from the storm was enough to trigger the backup power supply for Jenj, bringing her back online once more.

"There, a small favor repaid to an old friend. Now, let's watch to see what they do, shall we?" The Q said as they both looked over the table carefully.

"Oh how dull. Here I thought that the whole of the planet was going to erupt and wipe them out. Well...the bits and pieces that are occupied by the colony." Q said, sounding a bit disappointed.

"You sound as if you want them to die." The Prophet said, as she looked down on the planet from her all-seeing perspective. "The Maz one seems to be in a bit of trouble. Are you not going to assist him this time? I know he is one of your favorites."

"Only for the reasons you well know. Alias, I must let them decide their next path. I have already caused enough damage to cause them to hate me. Look for instance that Tantrin fellow." Q stated.

"Much darkness in that one, I fear. Darkness caused by your carelessness, I might add." The Prophet said.

"How am I supposed to be right one hundred percent of the time? Besides, the darkness is already in him from before. I nearly attempted to save him from becoming Borg."

"Your intentions were admirable, but the results are the same."

"I had to pull the Jedi, the one that could save him from the path. Then you brought in someone to fuel the darkness in him."

"I did what you would have done and placed someone to contrast what I would have done, nothing more, nothing less."

"When his time is ready, I will return him to the field of play. For now, he must remain where he is for his peoples' sake."

"You think too linier. You /could/ pull him at any time, but you're so stuck in the when and how."

"No, I am not, thank you. I believe in personal character development of the people and beings that I pull."

The Prophet gave her a look as though she was saying, 'Seriously?' just with her face.

Q shrugged, "Personal development is what they need to live for. They seek various things, but in the end, they are all the same and care about themselves."

The Prophet looked at her again with a face that could be described as confusion. "Say that one more time, more clearly, please."

"They care about themselves is what I am getting at." Q said.

"Anyway... Put the Jedi back into place as well as the rest that you took. You're messing with the plan."

"Fine, but I am not too happy about it." Q said in response and then waved her hand all over the board, wiping everything out in one massive wave, killing everything and everyone it came across. “Woops…”

“Did you just…. Oh, what have you done?” The Prophet said with a frown. “Now we have to start all over.” Her hand raised and in the reverse motion of the Q, restored what she could of the land, it’s native people, and the dome. “This isn’t going to work. We need to start from the beginning now.”

Q rubbed the back of her neck, “Yeah, that’s my bad. How about this, you choose who and when this time, you can even use your home to bring them. I will not bring them in.”

The Prophet nodded, “This will be acceptable. It will be a one way ticket. I will always present them with the same offer.”

Q nodded, “Then it is agreed.” her attention now turned back to the table. “What shall we call it?”

“Why not after the people that created it? We shall call it… Abrexi.”

A few moments later, a record scratches.

“Wait wait wait. No this…not good girls. Not good at all.” a woman said as she appeared to walk through the light. “It’s close, but it’s missing the heart. You can not have a colony with a heart.”

“Yes, mother.” Both girls said in response.

“You need Him. He is what brought it all together, in every version of the story. You can not have the story start without Him.” The woman said as she looked to the table, “You also need Her. Without her, the story does not even begin to make sense.”

“Yes, mother.” Both girls said, with two separate emotions showing on each other's face.

“But, what of the others? Aren’t they just as important?” Q asked with a bit of a frown.

“My little one, they are the stars of this story. But as you know, every story starts somewhere with someone.” she said as she lifted the Q’s chin so that she might look upon her face. “Let’s start it with them, and we shall name the story, Destiny.” the woman said as the light rose and they disappeared.
