Chapter 1: Into the Unknown

Klaxon. That word brings to mind reds and an annoying sound that echos through ones skull. In this case, the red bleeds through the closed eyes of an Orion woman floating nearly aimlessly in the transporter room of the SS Titan. She squeezed her eyes tighter to try and block out the light and to allow the tears to float from her eyes. It was a pointless endeavor, however, the tears remained due to lack of gravity. Her right hand raised and brushed away the tears from her eyes before opening them and looking around. The rare red color in an otherwise green hued ship, made things darker than they were. Something had happened to both the ship and the power, to where the only thing that remained was the light and the abandon ship warning.
Nigi was faced with a decision; go on floating until the oxygen ran out, and she died in hopes to join her daughter on the other side, or find an escape pod and get the hell out of there. She spun in place, deciding between the two options when she heard someone else cry.
"Mom? Please momma, don't leave me..." came the voice of a young woman. "I need you." she said as she began to pound on her mothers' chest as she pinned her against the wall in hopes to revive her. The more she pressed on her chest, however, the more blood began to fly freely near her head wound. The young woman began to cry harder.
Nigi raised her eyes and looked to the direction of the sobbing. Her eyes found themselves drawn to a young Aenar woman in a former security uniform. Her heart began to feel heavy with the loss of her own daughter even more than she had seconds before. Furthermore, her motherly instincts were to come and comfort the young woman, who, by comparison, was probably a few years older than her daughter. She found a wall with her left hand and stopped herself from spinning. "Hey. Let me help." Nigi said as she pushed herself over toward the two, looking over the situation. "What's your name?"
"...Irin." she said without taking her eyes off her mother.
"Okay Irin, let me see what I can do. What's your mother's name?" Nigi said as she approached the two, looking over the situation. There was a lot of blue blood in the 'air'. It did not look good, but Nigi was going to give it her best shot.
"Agla. Her name is Agla." Irin said looking desperate. "Please help her, she hit her head, I think." Her antenna moved backward in a sorrowful expression.
"Alright. Agla, can you hear me?" Nigi said as she looked toward the pale woman. Her hands went toward the wound to examine it, and she did in fact hit her head right behind her left antenna. Nigi took the figure's hand and began to check for a pulse as she sought a main vein in it. There was a pulse, but it was very weak. "Okay we have a pulse." Nigi began to tear apart the fabric from her shirt to create a temporary bandage to help stop the bleeding. "Hold this here," She said taking Irin's hand and pressing it to her mothers wounded head. "We need to get into an escape pod. There should be an medical kit there and some instructions on what we can do to help her."
Irin simply nodded as she held the compress to her mother's head, "There is one over there" She said, pointing her head toward the corridor behind the transporter control console.
Nigi nodded and took both Irin and Agla by their bodies and pushed off the wall with her feet, guiding them toward the aforementioned corridor. The few remaining people in the room followed suit silently, as if they were waiting for someone to take the lead. Those ahead of them pushed the dead bodies out of the way so they could glide smoothly down the corridor.
As the trio reached the first set of the escape pods, Nigi pressed her hand to the emergency access panel and opened the hatchway. "Get in and strap yourself in. I will see if I can find the medical kit." Nigi said as she began to glide the two in, "Get your mother first. The more secure she is the safer it will be to treat her."
Irin nodded and did as instructed, one-handed. She made sure to not remove pressure from the head wound. "She is secured."
Nigi nodded and continued to look for the kit. "Secure yourself next to her. Keep that pressure on the wound as long as you can." Nigi was internally screaming at the lack of organization this Romulan transport had in its escape pods. By the time she found it, Irin had secured her self the best she could. "Okay, I am going to apply some gel that will help seal the wound for now. We need to get off this ship." Nigi said as she made her way over toward Agla where she got ready to open the gel.
Irin moved her hand away from the wound to allow Nigi to apply the gel. "Thank you. I don't even know your name."
"Nigi...Nigi Latar." she said applying the gel to wound.
"Thank you, Nigi." Irin said watching closely to see if things were getting any better.
"There, all set," Nigi said putting the medical kit away and then working her way into the seat. "Let's get the hell out of here." she said, strapping in. When she felt that she was secure enough, she slammed her hand into the breakaway glass and as a result, the door sealed and the pod launched toward the planet below.
